Tim Head
Displacement (2013)
Posted
Tim Head’s edition for Modern Art Oxford was produced to accompany his 2013 exhibition Displacement, an installation which drew on conceptual art practices of the 1960s as the work existed both in the imagination of the viewer and in reality.
For Displacement two stage lights, one green and the other blue, were positioned at diagonally opposing ends of the gallery, creating an invisible light sculpture – an infinitely thin 3 foot disc, green on one side and blue on the other – on their meeting in the middle of the space. Viewers could choose to make the work visible by placing themselves in the path of the beams at the point at which they met.
This edition stands as a visual chart of Head’s sculpture and the process that takes place when the two light beams meet, the layers seen colliding at the centre of the composition on a grey background made up of millions of pixels.
A limited edition of 50 prints, exclusive to Modern Art Oxford. Numbered and signed recto by the artist. All our editions come with a certificate of authenticity.
