Created to support new artistic talent in the South East region, Modern Art Oxford presents the second annual exhibition, Platform 2013, which features the work of graduate artists from Oxford Brookes University, The Ruskin School of Drawing & Fine Art, Oxford University and Reading University.
The artists selected to participate are Dom Callaghan (Ruskin School of Drawing & Fine Art, Oxford University), Gemma Davies (Oxford Brookes University), Louise Fitzgerald (Reading University), Rosanna Reed (Ruskin School of Drawing & Fine Art, Oxford University), Jakob Rowlinson (Ruskin School of Drawing & Fine Art, Oxford University) and Lewdjaw//Jack Wilson (Reading University).
The work exhibited includes sculpture, performance, painting, photography and video installation and addresses a diverse range of subjects from the relationship between the home and external environments to political stereotypes and fashion models wearing Russian football shirts.
Platform was devised in 2012 in collaboration with the Contemporary Visual Arts Network South East (CVAN), and is a partnership between four galleries: Aspex Gallery, MK Gallery, Modern Art Oxford and Turner Contemporary. Each organisation has selected graduates from their local area to participate in this series of exhibitions.
A shortlist of artists from each of the four exhibitions across the South East will be nominated for the Platform Graduate Award, which includes a financial award of £2,500 and a 12-month programme of bespoke professional development.
