Nobody’s Flowers (2010)

David Austen’s edition for Modern Art Oxford was produced to accompany his 2010-11 exhibition End of Love, which featured a film that explored love and loss in a cinematic experience reminiscent of the early days of the medium.

End of Love, the eponymous film, was an ambitious project described as a post-apocalyptic vaudeville number and a musical without music, performed at the end of the world. Set on the stage of an empty London theatre, 12 vulnerable and alienated characters expose themselves as suffering figures, all are hurt, lost or broken and their performances resonate with a directness and rawness that typifies Austen’s practice. Nobody’s Flowers is an image taken from the film, in which they appear in the lap of Nobody, a cyclops.

A limited edition of 50 prints, exclusive to Modern Art Oxford. Numbered, signed and dated with the year of production recto, by the artist. All our editions come with a certificate of authenticity.
