R. B. Kitaj
Mary Ann (1980)

This edition by Ronald Brooks Kitaj was produced to support the Museum of Modern Art Oxford’s Building Appeal in the early 1980s. Kitaj, along with Howard Hodgkin and John Piper, donated a work which was then produced in an exclusive and limited edition of 150 each, selling at a fraction of the price their work went for at the time.
Though an American, Kitaj was, alongside artists including Frank Auerbach, Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud, David Hockney and Howard Hodgkin, part of the School of London, a term Kitaj himself coined in an essay for a 1976 exhibition of figurative and drawing works selected by Kitaj from the Arts Council of Great Britain collection.
A limited edition of 150 prints, exclusive to Modern Art Oxford. Numbered and signed recto, by the artist. All our editions come with a certificate of authenticity.
Modern Art Oxford editions are generously donated by the artists. All proceeds from the sale of these works directly support our exhibition and education programmes.
